Short guides to new (to us) Children's Day events

Sorry for the wait! Similar to the previous post on Ohanami, here's a short walkthrough for the events added in 2012 and 2013.

Guide #1: オレッチの代わりに… (On my behalf...) (added in 2012)

This is actually the "renewed" version of an older event (known in IndoECO as "Yunger's Replacement"), so the first half of this event might seem familiar to folks who had tried it back in IndoECO.

Step #1: Speak to Junger, around central Uptown, in front of the Guild Palace:

After introducing himself as a martial artist in training, he will ask if you could help him out. Choose option #2 (良いですよ) to continue:

He'll complain about how he's made to train, train, train all the time, but is too afraid of his strict master to skip his trainings. So he would like you to take his place for today and is willing to recompense you for the favor. Choose option #2 (仕方ないなぁ) to accept:

Step #2: Head to Acronia Forest and speak to Master Gecko:

Though blind, Master Gecko quickly "sees" through the deception. You explain what happened and understandably, the master flies into a rage, not with you, but with his idiot disciple. He apologises for the trouble that Junger has caused and asks you to return and relay his great displeasure to the young man.

Step #3: Speak to Junger. He is dismayed that the plan has failed and understands that he's in for a severe scolding. Dismayed or not, you've done your part so he rewards you with a Timeworn Map (古ぼけた地図).

Note: For those interested, this is used in a separate event to get the Kyprînos Dress (キュプリーノスワンピース♀), located at spot (96.60) in Steppe Desert. You'll need a Sand Digging Shovel (Event) (砂掘りスコップ(イベント)), which means you have to complete the Puppies' Request event before you can start digging).

Junger weighs the options available to him: go back and apologise (though he's afraid of what's to come), or continue to fool around (and risk expulsion). He then ask you for your opinion. Choose option #1 (謝ったほうが良い) to advise him to apologise to Master Gecko:

And so Junger's decided to ask for the master's forgiveness... The problem now is that he's still apprehensive about facing the latter's fury. So you'll be asked to run another errand for him, this time to find out if he could get the master anything he would like to have now (in other words, Junger is trying to placate him with gifts). Choose option #1 (わかりました) to accept:

Step #4: Speak to Master Gecko and choose option #1 (今欲しいものを聞く):

The master guesses correctly that Junger is trying to appease him and asks you to tell his disciple that he would like to have some food to go with his booze.

Step #5: Speak to Junger and relay the master's message to him. The food that Master Gecko has in mind are:
As you might have expected, Junger once again asks that you collect this items for him. Choose option #1 (自分でやるできじゃ... ...) to (reluctantly) accept (the option actually says "Do it yourself..." but Junger manages to talk himself out of it, tch):

All the ingredients/items needed can be found in Fareast or the maps east of Acropolis:

Lettuce: The quickest way is to buy one from East Cape (200G) or Fareast City (180G).

Grilled Kokanee:
You'll need one Kokanee (ヒメマス) + one Salt (塩) + either a NPC that can cook (the Seamstress or the Foodstore Grannies) or a Farmer with at least level 3 Cooking (料理).

Kokanees can be fished off all freshwater fishing spots, preferably from the hill in Lake Utena, South Utena Settlement or, if you have your own Airship, from freshwater ponds in any Ring Castles, to avoid fishing up the aggro Evil Fish. Make sure you check the name; Kokanees in ECO share the same appearance with a few other fish that can also be grilled with salt, but those don't give you what you need here.

Salt can be bought from the Foodstore Grannies (100G) or Fareast City (90G).

Egg Sandwich:
You'll need one Egg (卵) + one Butter (バター) + one Breadfruit (パンの実) + a NPC that can cook (the Seamstress or the Foodstore Grannies) or a Farmer with at least level 2 Cooking (料理).

The fastest way to get your Breadfruit is to buy it from the Foodstore Grannies at 15G. Eggs can be bought from East Cape (100G) or MooMoo Plains (90G). Alternatively, you can also get Eggs from Cockkos in Fareast Street

Butter, the only item in this recipe that can't be bought from NPCs, drop from Milk Pitchers in Acronia Forest, Fareast Street and East Cape. Milk Pitchers also drop Milk, which can be refined into Butter via NPC or the Refining skill.

Step #6: Once you have all three items, speak to Junger again and choose option #1 (待ってきた):

From the next set of options, choose which food you want to hand over first. The sequence doesn't matter here, but it's best to start from the top:

Junger takes the first item from you, but feels that just this alone is not enough. Choose option #1 (確かに…) to agree. Do not make the wrong choice here; doing so will end the event now and deny you the other two rewards from this event:

Step #7: Speak to Junger again and repeat the giving process for the next item. Note that this time the first prompt will have four options this time; do not choose the third option (そろそろ謝りに……) which will also end the event prematurely.

After you hand the second item over, Junger will say that just these two still not enough. Choose option #1 (ここまで来たら付き合う!) to agree. Once again, don't make the wrong choice:

Step #8: Speak to Junger for the last time and repeat step #7 for the last item. After receiving the last item, Junger thanks you for your help and prepares to show you his appreciation. Choose option #1 (ありがと) to receive your reward:

You will receive these three equipment:
  • くわえ葉っぱ (Facial Accessory)
  • 股旅マント (Chest Accessory)
  • 三度笠 (Headgear)

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Guide #2: 子供戦隊ガキレンジャー結成! (Kid Sentai Gakiranger, Set Up!) (added in 2013)

Note: Before you start this event, making sure you have enough space for an item with 15 Weight & Capacity.

Step #1: Speak to Red (紅), located together with his siblings at the lower side of north-eastern Downtown:

He informs you that they are the Kid Sentai Gakiranger, modelled after the bunch at Warship Island. Do you have any troubles, he asks, and immediately realises that while you don't (atm), you do have a question on your mind. Choose option #1 (逆に悩みを聞く) to listen to their troubles:

Red, amused at the thought of them having problems, turns to his siblings and ask them if they have anything to say about this. Turns out they do; the victory pose Red has decided on is lame, and the siblings (except Green, who's a bit dense) are embarrassed about it. To drive that home to Red, Yellow (黄) suggests that they show you that pose and have you comment on it. Which they do, so choose option #1 (ダサいですね) to let them know how bad it is =3:

Red goes into a dramatic shock. Hoping that you might have better sense than Red, the Sentai asks you to work on a new pose. Yellow suggests taking their opinions into consideration, a hint to how you should go about it.

Step #2: Speak to Red again. You'll now be provided with a few choices for the pose each member should assume. The "correct" choices are, in this order, as shown below:

  • Red: option #2 (一番星だ!)
  • Blue & Green: option #1 (○○○○回転!)
  • Yellow & Pink: option #2 (○○○○投げキッス)

After choosing the pose for each member, choose option #1 (これだ!) from the following prompt to affirm your decision.

Note that there's no penalty for trying out other poses. The Sentai will just comment about the lack of co-ordination and ask you to try again. You won't get the reward though, until the right set is chosen.

And so the kids try out their new victory pose and find it way better than their original. As for you, you'll receive a Toy Box (おもちゃばこ) as their appreciation for your help. It's a Furniture that gives +20 storage spaces for your Airship, provided that you haven't reached the 100 spaces limit:
